PS3s hit by a global software bug. (resolved)
PlayStation 3 owners around the world have been hit by a software problem that crashes their games consoles.

The bug seems to be something related to the clock inside the PS3 - I'm guessing something to do with February 28th and deciding whether it's a leap year or not.

Everyone's PS3s have reset their date and time to 31st December just before midnight.

Sony say that they will try to get a patch out in the next 24 hours. Until then, no online gaming for many of us!

RE: [BREAKING] PS3s hit by a global software bug.
According to the following source some people's PS3s are now working again, but I think I'll wait until we get the all clear from Sony and they've actually properly patched this bug up rather than putting a temporary replacement in place.

http://kotaku.com/5482328/ps3s-suffering...pdate-6%5D Wrote:Update: According to the official U.S. PlayStation.blog, the issue has been "resolved." Patrick Seybold, senior director, corporate communications writes:

We are aware that the internal clock functionality in the PS3 units other than the slim model, recognized the year 2010 as a leap year. Having the internal clock date change from February 29 to March 1 (both GMT), we have verified that the symptoms are now resolved and that users are able to use their PS3 normally.

If the time displayed on the XMB is still incorrect, users are able to adjust time settings manually or via the internet. If we have new information, we will update you through the PlayStation.Blog or PlayStation.com.

The problems seem to be over, my PS3 works perfectly, i'll see you guys online!
