The Duelling Club - Lesson 1
OOC: The class will start of with pairing (any of you interested to plot for your partners then that is okay). Next, we will talk about a little bit of the historic Duels that have occurred before we go proceed to the very basics of Duelling.
Anybody can join and I would really appreciate to have more people involved here. :) Role Playing as Leon Silverberg "So today's my first huh?" The sun was high and the weather was cool. Nothing beats a good day to start Leon's first day of teaching in Hogwarts. Being the Head of Ravenclaw house was one thing and Duelling was another. Leon was a having a hard time to conceal his excitement as he waited for his students to come in. He wondered though, if Duelling was even necessary to begin with, not that he didn't feel like doing it since Duelling is his favorite part of being a wizard. The fact that Hogwarts has just been reopened, the era of the Death Eaters and the Dark Lord was long gone now, he wondered if protecting themselves and knowing how to duel was even necesssary. He guessed that it wouldn't really hurt to know how to defend oneself anyway. So what's going to be the topic for the class today? Leon is really itching to teach them how to duel although it wouldn't really be that good if the students wouldn't even know what and how duelling works. "This place is a bit dusty." Leon can just imagine how much dust and dirt this school has accumulated, obviously since the school had been gone for a long time and had just been reopened. Leon then took his wand out from his pocket, the first time he did so inside the school and flicked it once. After a split second, all the dust, dirt and cobwebs all over the place was gone. Everything looked nice and clean, it was as if somebody had done a general overhaul cleaning over the place. And in a couple seconds, a student or two will now enter the Duelling club. Leon wondered who will be the first to show up. |

RE: The Duelling Club - Lesson 1
Kayla stepped into the room. She was under advice to take part in extra-curricular activities and the only one that interested her was Duelling. There were no clubs for potions. "Hello?" She said sleepily. It was surprising she was the first one here for once. She spotted her instructor and looked him over. The head of ravenclaw. Oh goodie.

RE: The Duelling Club - Lesson 1
Jara slowly rolled into the room, apprehension quickly creeping into her expression. It had been a while since she took a dueling lesson, at least a couple months before the attack that took her ability to walk a year ago. She really hoped that her skills would be up to par. Her journey of recovery had been both tough on her body and on her magic. The overwhelming anger and victimization caused Jara to be constantly distracted, constantly forgetting spells and losing control. When she tried to practice dueling with her father two weeks ago, she almost took his arm off.
Jara was seriously scared that she would hurt someone, but she was tired of living in fear. Liam took away her ability to walk, he would not take away her ability to live freely. Sometimes, Jara was so determined to prove this, that she actually drove herself farther away from people, becoming so obsessed with proving people's perceptions wrong that she sometimes saw people as more of a punishment than a potential for happiness. She noticed the man in the room first, instantly recognizing him as the head of her house, though she had never met him. She was skeptical of him. Her head of house at her old school was one of the people that testified for Liam after the attack, ultimately helping him roam free. Then the girl caught her eye. She had a peculiar expression on, but that could just be a trick of the light and the fact that Jara did not know her. Jara braved speaking, "Uh... hi? Is this Dueling Club?" Jara Redding

RE: The Duelling Club - Lesson 1
Role Playing as Tiffany Beck Tiffany opened up the door to what she really hoped was the right room, and walked in. She was delighted to see a couple students and a teacher. "This must be it," She thought. She spotted Jara and went to go stand by her. She'd never tried dueling before, but it seemed like a useful skill to have. Couldn't hurt, anyways. Adressing the teacher, she asked, "Is this the dueling club? My name's Tiffany, I don't believe we've met." |

RE: The Duelling Club - Lesson 1
OOC: It would be better to have more students participate in this thread since we're also going to pair you with partners as the class progresses. :)
One by one, the students came in. You can say that for every student that came in, Leon's excitement has multiplied tenfold. "Yes dear, this is the duelling club." replied Leon in a mild-mannered tone as he smiled to greet one of his students named Tiffany. "As for the rest of you, my name is Leon Silverberg and I will be your duelling professor in this club." his voice a little bit louder this time so that the rest of the students may hear him. He then wondered how many students are still on their way to the club? There's still a couple of minutes left before he can even start the class anyway. Since today is going to be his first, Leon decided to make this one very special and educational. |

RE: The Duelling Club - Lesson 1
Mosden opened the door and walked in, a curious look lining his features. He had been hoping that there would be some time of dueling club since he got here, and once he heard he was ecstatic! He recognized only one person, though he didn't really know her. Looking around, he saw a man with silver hair and crystal blue eyes a couple shades darker than his own. Judging by how he held himself, he must have been the teacher. He decided to stay a bit away from everyone, examining the room and the people in it.

RE: The Duelling Club - Lesson 1
Role Playing as Lillin Meahra Lilli strode into the lesson to see students ambling around, "Duelling club." She said it out loud although it was more to herself than anyone else. Looking the teacher up and down she sighed and headed towards a spare corner in the room where she could be alone for a while, ever since the fight she'd been tired but she was determined to prove herself and her skills and what could be a better way than duelling against someone? The only problem she had with this was that if she didn't reveal at least a little of her vampire power then she wouldn't have the energy to cast even a single spell without collapsing, and that wasn't her favourite of ideas. Role Playing as Adam Tallorn Adam snuck into the classroom, worried if he was late, his watch had broken by accident when he put it through the wash, "Hey professor." He took a look around at some of the students that he'd met in the ice cream parlour and some that he'd met elsewhere, Mosden and Tiffany were there and Kayla who he smiled at before walking over to and saying 'hey'. He ignored Lilli who'd chosen a suitable dark corner for herself. It's not easy to distinguish good from evil. Sinners can surprise you. And the same is true for saints. Why do we try to simply distinguish people as good or evil? Because no one wants to admit that compassion and cruelty can live side by side in one heart. And that anyone is capable of anything...

RE: The Duelling Club - Lesson 1
Role Playing as Evan Koth Evan sidled into the room, an expression which could only be classed as mild bemusement painted on his face. He had decided that it would be best to attend Duelling club after all, although it would give any potential enemies an idea of how he fought, as it would keep him in practice now that he was relatively safe; he couldn't afford to go soft. Looking around, he wondered who he would pair up with - he couldn't bring himself to trounce Lilli. Role Playing as Jack Miller Jack wondered in, regretting each step that he took. Why did he need to learn to duel anyway? It's not like anyone was going to attack him or anything. And he would be rubbish at it, he was sure; the rest of them were probably experts. But still, better safe than sorry, his mother had always said. She had practically coerced him into doing this and he wasn't going to back out now. Better just grin and bear it, and hope he didn't loose too much of his dignity.

RE: The Duelling Club - Lesson 1
Role Playing as Lillin Meahra Lilli nodded at Evan as he walked into the room, giving him no more attention, he gave her a bad image seen as she couldn't help but act all girly and romantic around him when she shouldn't. Looking at Jack though, she cocked her head to the side slightly and beckoned him into the corner with her, "You're going to be my partner." She said it like she wasn't giving him a choice in the matter, but she really just wanted to see his duelling ability and talent. He'd already proved that he could use magic very well, but hadn't proved that he could use it in a fight, "It's pretty even matchings with us two, I am assuming of course that you haven't done this sort of thing before?" It's not easy to distinguish good from evil. Sinners can surprise you. And the same is true for saints. Why do we try to simply distinguish people as good or evil? Because no one wants to admit that compassion and cruelty can live side by side in one heart. And that anyone is capable of anything...

RE: The Duelling Club - Lesson 1
Kayla's eyes glittered at Adam. "Partner up?" She said in a teasing voice. She wondered if she could beat her current partner in crime. There was the issue of her showing she could do better than what she claimed but she wanted a little rivarly.
