Potions - Lesson 1
Jord grumpily walked into his classroom and sat at his desk. The room was cold, dusty, and a bit foul-smelling. The weather outside complemented the desolate scene in front of him. He contemplated whether he should do something about his room, it being the respectful thing to do, but decided against it.
"These students will have to earn my respect. As for now, I owe them nothing.," He mumbled to himself, "But I should do something about this board." With a gentle wave of his wand, the blackboard behind him displayed a message. This message read: Potions Class - Lesson 1 Confusing & Befuddlement Draught Silently take your seat and await further directions. He decided he would go over class rules first. If the students were behaved well, they would begin making their first potion of the year. If not, they would all face punishment and would have to wait until next class to begin concocting. Jord folded his hands in front of his face, patiently awaiting his students' arrival and for class to get underway. |

RE: Potions - Lesson 1
Kayla slipped into the class and looked at the potions master. He was younger than she'd expected and angry looking. She stared for a second then silently sat down the front with a slightly relieved and content smile on her face. She'd been waiting for this lesson for a while. Her eyes stayed down at her desk though as she didn't know how to gauge the new teacher.

RE: Potions - Lesson 1
Role Playing as Tiffany Beck Tiffany walked into class, alarmed to see that she was one of the first ones there. She had been exceptionally lucky, not getting lost once on her way down here. Or maybe she was just starting to learn her way around the castle at last. "Hello proffe-" she began, then noticing the instructions on the board. Clamping her mouth shut, she made her way to a seat near the middle of the room and dropped her stuff off quiety, taking a seat and looking around the room. A bit dirty, she decided, but then again, it was a dungeon. |

RE: Potions - Lesson 1
Role Playing as Evan Koth Evan was next into the lesson, having made sure he was in on time; he recognised the power of Potions and he had to admit that it was an area of weakness; in fact, something that he would benefit greatly from if he worked on. But even he couldn't be slightly disappointed when he saw the teacher - he saw that they weren't going to achieve too much with ol' grumpy here.

RE: Potions - Lesson 1
Mosden gave a deep sigh as he stood outside the door. He was absolutely horrendous at all potion making, and it wasn't from a lack of trying. He actually loved potions, considering how useful they were. There was just something about them that he always messed up on. 'Well, here goes the classroom.' He thought to himself before opening the door. He noticed that the teacher had a strict, grumpy air about him and inwardly sighed. It was like being taught by William all over again. He chose a seat, not paying too much attention to who he was sitting near.

RE: Potions - Lesson 1
Role Playing as Jack Miller Jack was next to wander into the room, noticing and making a beeline for Tiffany before anything else. He was about to turn to greet her when he spotted the aura in the room - never mind the 'silence' notice on the board - and he promptly shut up, not wanting to disturb the peace with such a grumpy presence in charge. Instead he satisfied himself with a mouthed greeting before waiting for the lesson to begin, unsure of how he would enjoy the subject but seriously doubting that he would.

RE: Potions - Lesson 1
Jord took note of how many students had entered his room already, and frowned even further. Now he was actually going to have to teach. What a drag, he thought to himself. He noticed that he was beginning to feel a little hotter, but he remained calm, assuring himself that it was not due to nervousness. They're just kids, he thought, they're harmless.
"Welcome to your first Potions lesson," He began in a disgruntled tone, "Let me get something clear. This class is not meant to be fun. In this room, your feeble minds will be tested. You will be learning about many different ingredients and their properties as well as where they can be attained. In addition, as the name of the course suggests, you will learn how to combine those ingredients in order to obtain a mixture with a certain effect, or in other words a potion." He flicked his wand so that the words on the board moved to the top left corner and new words replaced the center. The words read Class Procedures. "First order of business is that you know the rules of my lessons. To start, there will be absolutely no talking or interruptions while I'm speaking unless in the event of an emergency. Second, it is imperative that you follow my directions at all times while we are mixing. Intentional failure to do so will result in a loss of house points and punishment for the whole class. On the contrary, I am aware that some concepts in this class will be more difficult for some of you to grasp and that accidents will happen. In the event one does happen, we will fix what caused the problem and move on," He continued, "Questions will be asked by the raising of one's hand. The final and most important rule is that none of the potions we create in this class, unless designated by myself, are to be used outside of this room." Jord silently caught his breath as he looked around at his students, "If a student is late to or absent from class, it is up to someone to explain to that person what he or she missed AFTER class. Are we all clear?" He finished, "If so, please turn your textbooks to page one hundred twenty-three. Today we are studying the Confusing & Befuddlement Draught." |

RE: Potions - Lesson 1
Tiffany shot jack a look that indicated a mixture of fear and bemusement. A class where you aren't allowed to talk except for emergencies? And what business did they have starting practically half way through their book, this was only the first lesson. Silently, she opened her book and began to read. "The Confusing & Befuddlement Draught, a potion who's properties can range from..." She began to read, and thought to herself, "Oh. My. God. Boring."
Tiffany looked up at the clock. "Only 59 minutes left in class," She thought sarcastically. She was in for a long hour. |

RE: Potions - Lesson 1
Role Playing as Jack Miller Jack replied with a look of his own, rolling his eyes dramatically. This really wasn't going to be the most enjoyable of lessons. Confusing and Befuddlement Draught... not that he needed it; he was already so confused so often already. Perhaps he could use it on every one else, so that he wouldn't stand out. 'Stop daydreaming!' a voice inside his head forced him back to the book. Well, this was going to be fun...

RE: Potions - Lesson 1
Kayla got to work. She'd actually read this chapter already. Several times in fact and had made notes all over the book. She re read it and edited some of her notes carefully and quietly. Where was Adam? Kayla looked at the empty space next to her and sighed then got back to work.
