We Need to Talk

"Heh," Evan snorted. "You wouldn't know what sort of madness I've been through since I joined this 'haven'," Lilli came to mind, and the whirlwind journey they had been through from as soon as they had met. "But on the whole, I suppose you're right. I never even knew humanity had a good side before I came to this place. That's why I came here in the first place - a new chance at life," he smiled at Mosden, knowing that if there hadn't been somebody like him to 'break him in' he might never had achieved the security he had now.

He didn't know. Not enough. But he just gave a confused look. "I can't see how anything exciting can happen. I've found everything is laid back and almost boring." He noticed they were beginning to get really close to the castle. "I wish my reason was that great. Mine's pretty lousy."

"Well, maybe I just seem to attract unwanted attention," he shrugged, unwilling to elaborate further. "I wish I could have been bored in that time," he paused. "Reason to come to Hogwarts, you mean? Your guardian made you come, then?" he continued as he pushed open the great oak doors of the castle.

Mosden walked through and waited for Evan to join him before closing the large doors. "Kind of. When he heard Hogwarts was reopening, he told me that it was a horrible place plagued with bad luck and dangerous events swirled around it. He said that I would learn best here because of it, and forced me to go." He wanted to say the other reasons, like confirming Tool was alive and signs for some sort of magic not usually seen. But Vows kept him from it. "He told me I would be in danger, but I haven't seen any yet."

"Well, maybe Hogwarts wasn't like this when it was last open. Sounds like he went - must be some old guardian then," he commented. "Sounds like you got a pretty good deal out of the whole thing then," he smiled again, before walking into the building, relieved to be out of the cold. "Anyway, I better head off now. It was nice seeing you, Mosden."

Old? He would venture a guess to say William was one of the oldest. But he didn't say it out loud. When Evan said Mosden had a good deal, a small part of him couldn't help but disagree. He wanted something to happen. Mosden waved at him, giving a small smile. "It was nice seeing you, too. Talk to you later!" He then walked off, looking forward to the books tucked away in his pocket.
