Fateful Encounter
Role Playing as Lillin Meahra Lilli walked to the three broomsticks knowing that she was going to reveal to a stranger something that she'd kept secret from everyone, the truth. As she stepped into the pub the warm, soft smell of butterbeer mixed with the damp musty smell of old wood filled her nostrils. She looked around noticing the students loudly talking to each other, happy smiles on their faces. Some of the men in the pub turned their heads towards her and she dropped her eyes to the ground quickly, she needed to avoid attention. Walking to the bar slowly she noted all the exits, windows, doors even behind the bar a small trap door in the floor that could lead her to freedom if the situation changed. The bar man nodded at her and she smiled calmly, "One butterbeer please." He smiled back at her, pouring her a glass, "So what brings you here then? Excited about school?" Lilli stared at the man for a second, took the glass in her hand and walked away from the bar to a small table in the corner of the room, "Thanks." She hoped that Evan would turn up soon, the men in the bar were staring at her with eyes full of loathing and greed and she knew what they wanted, she just hoped that this wasn't going to turn into a fight. It's not easy to distinguish good from evil. Sinners can surprise you. And the same is true for saints. Why do we try to simply distinguish people as good or evil? Because no one wants to admit that compassion and cruelty can live side by side in one heart. And that anyone is capable of anything...

RE: Fateful Encounter
Role Playing as Evan Koth This was it. Evan stopped at the door of the Three Broomsticks, looking at the scene before him with something bordering on horror. From every sense this was a stupid move. A number of powerful men in the bar were already eyeing this mysterious girl up and it didn't take Evan's superior eye for detail to see that it would take little to start a fight. Any one of the dozens of people here could recognise him; the last person he wanted to run into was an old enemy. But at least this was better than the Shrieking Shack - no way was he going to go, by himself, to meet a girl he didn't know in a place he had never seen before. That would be downright idiotic. Taking a deep breath, he opened the door and stepped into the bar. He steadily walked towards Lilli and sat down, declining the bartender's offer of a Butterbeer with the slightest of movements. His eyes flickered around the room, taking in potential escape routes, as he waited for the girl to speak.

RE: Fateful Encounter
She looked at him as he walked into the bar, he seemed suspicious and she understood why. In this situation anything could happen and she was hoping that nothing would. She was desperately trying to avoid looking at people because she knew that they were staring, she knew that the whispers coming from some of the students were about her.
She shook her head slightly and looked at Evan, "You decided to come then. Please take a seat," she gestured to the seat across from her, "As you may have already guessed I'm not exactly what someone would call normal. And I'm interested to find out more about you." Lilli waited, watching his every move and reaction, she was very aware of the fact that some of the whispering ahd stopped though and people were no longer staring at her...

As Lilli began to speak his eyes continued to flit around the room, but despite the impression he was giving he was listening intently. This girl, he was ashamed to admit, intrigued her. There was something that meant he had to stay and hear more. One day, that kind of curiosity could be the death of him. But still he wouldn't stop.
'Again, what was with the whispering?' Evan asked himself, still unable to find an answer. Perhaps something this girl told him would explain it. He sat down as Lilli offered it to her, remaining silent. Finally, when he realised he couldn't avoid it any longer, he spoke. "What?" he asked simply, refusing to give anything away.

RE: Fateful Encounter
Lilli smiled, he hadn't let much away but she now realised that he was interested in what she had to tell him, "The reason I went quiet and pale for a second, also why I am so very cruel with words sometimes."
For a second she turned her head to look at some of the people in the bar, one man was concentrating so hard on her it made her feel uneasy, but she ignored him and carried on, "Please do realise that I do not give away this information, even the school does not know and if they were to find out I'm sure that no good will come of it," Lilli frowned, "People do not like what I am. "The truth is that I am not human, my mother decided that she wanted me to be like her, a killer of sorts. She gave me a gift but not completely. Ever since then both my parents have been torturing me, not that they cared much for me before." Telling someone this made her head pound in anger, she shouldn't be telling a complete stranger this but she needed to know more about Evan.

Evan listened intently as the girl slowly opened up. As she drew to a close, he realised that now he had to give something in return. But before he had even opened his mouth, he realised that Lilli had not, in fact, told him anything at all. Stupid, stupid, stupid! How could he not notice such a thing! When he did speak, he was a lot more selective. He would have to play the same game as her.
"My dad... he had difficulties. He committed suicide when I was young. I wasn't brought up in a traditional manner." He spoke slowly, having to force out each word. He had never revealed so much about himself before. Why was he doing it now? Hogwarts really had lowered his defences. "What is this gift of yours?" he asked lightly, almost as if it was of no relevance to him.

RE: Fateful Encounter
Lilli was no longer playing with him, she had realised a while in the hall that it wasn't gonig to work on him. She looked at him more closely, just like her he did not reveal detail, he hadn't really told her anything about himself. But she began to understand why he was the way he was, just like her he'd had a cruel upbringing. She continued again, this tiem revealing a little more information, "My mother was bitten after I was born, my father still loved her dearly however and let her live with us still. When I was about 3 years old she bit me. But it didn't have the same effect. Although I have all their abilities I am not bound by their weaknesses. I am however also human and still bound by their weaknesses." She frowned, remembering her parents, "They were never kind because of this."
She was reluctant to tell him what her mother was bitten by, but she had a feeling that Evan had already guessed what it was, it was his turn now, and she hoped that he would reveal some more information about his past to her.

Evan grimaced. This was going to be more difficult than he thought. Yes, she had let up a little bit. But that was it. Now he had narrowed it down; but there was still more than one possibility. She was bitten. But that could mean anything; a vampire? a werewolf? Just by her looks she appeared to be the former, but he could not be sure. He would just have to force her to relent. But, in return, he would have to do something more difficult than he had ever done in his life. "My family were poor; my father turned to... irregular means to top us up. He fell into debt, and took up gambling. His.... debtors... they wanted to take revenge after he committed suicide, so they killed my mother. I fled." He would not reveal exactly what he did on that day, ever. At least, that was what he thought.
That was enough. Lilli's turn. This was like some bizarre game of chess.

RE: Fateful Encounter
Lilli stared at him for a second, she was going to have to give away more information again, more details. She looked away from him remembering slightly what had happened in her past, "You may have already guessed it, creatures of the night that are no longer allowed to live in the daylight. As I said before I am not boun by their weaknesses although I have all their strengths. I am bound by human weaknesses though I can still become ill for example, but broken bones aren't a problem. Then there is the issue of what those creatures feed on. I do not have to, but sometimes it is necessary otherwise others might get hurt." She paused and looked around at some of the people in the pub, they had started to whisper again so she kept her voice low as she looked back at Evan, "The only problem I really have is magic, I am at a disadvantage. It is harder for me to make a spell work and even when I do the spell properly and perfectly the final result is almost pathetic. I use too much energy on spells. What happened in the hall was the result of hunger, I'd left it too long between meals and my body rebelled at that fact. I can turn into the full vampire that lives inside of me... It takes so much to turn back though."
She pushed her hair in front of her face, trying to hide the smell of sweat and grime that had only just hit her, now it was Evan's turn again. she'd revealed a lot of detail thos time but not everything and she hoped this would entice him to tell her some more about himself. It's not easy to distinguish good from evil. Sinners can surprise you. And the same is true for saints. Why do we try to simply distinguish people as good or evil? RE: Fateful Encounter
"So you're... a vampire?" Evan said, his mouth refusing to close properly. After a moment he snapped it shut, annoyed at his temporary lapse. Even though he had already suspected it for a while, hearing her putting it into words shocked even him, and Evan Koth was never shocked. Fully recovering, he continued his own tale. "After they killed my family, I had no one. I lived on the streets, and stole a living. I never had time for... socialising or anything like that." He paused, sighing. "That's it... that's my story," he wavered at the end. Evan was not a practised liar, but he hoped that wouldn't show through. Of his many skills, this was not one of them; he had spoken to too few people to get a chance. "So when you turned dark in the hall... you were a vampire?" he asked, trying to put the pressure back on her.
